About the Artist
Artist Statement
"In each body of work, my paintings are explorations of the elements of nature.
Landscape-inspired, the abstract series emerges out of a spontaneity of form, color, and paint application. Space becomes ethereal and perspective variable. The transformation of the patterns and spaces of the natural world into abstract arrangements takes on a life of its own. Additive and subtractive processes push toward harmony and balance, even within chaos.
In the landscape series, majestic tree structures, voluptuous cloud formations, textured unfolding fields create dramatic pattern, rhythms, and silhouettes. In both series, I heighten the reality of the visual world and thus see its magic." Elisabeth Phillipson
